miVIP Surgery Center puts the patient first. We offer minimally invasive treatments with your needs in mind, which is why we are dedicated to offering the best technology available. Our procedures mean you can return to your normal routine quickly, opposed to longer recovery times associated with traditional surgeries. We proudly offer the da Vinci Surgical System, which means we can offer a wide range of the most advanced surgical procedures and minimal discomfort. Our miVIP team works to provide patients the most convenient experience possible, utilizing da Vinci technology. This system is recognized as the leader in robotic surgical devices, providing our surgeons with maximum dexterity, flexibility and other expanded capabilities.
What is the da Vinci Surgical System?
The da Vinci Surgical System consists of an ergonomic surgeon’s console, from which the physician can control a patient cart that has four interactive robotic arms. The system also has a high-powered vision system and patented EndoWrist instruments.
Why should I choose a da Vinci surgery?
Traditional surgery and conventional laparoscopic surgery have severe limitations when it comes to what your surgeon can see and do. The da Vinci Surgical System provides our miVIP surgeons a world-class robotic platform, which offers minimally invasive procedures for the first time for many surgeries. This means our physicians can reach operation areas with significantly less trauma to surrounding tissues and other anatomical structures. As a result, patients experience less pain and faster recovery. A da Vinci surgery also means shorter procedure times and better outcomes for the patient.
How does a da Vinci surgery work?
Instead of using large, painful incisions, the da Vinci system utilizes several dime-sized incisions through which a doctor can use miniature instruments. A high-definition, 3D camera is also inserted, enabling a surgeon to sit at the da Vinci console. From there, the physician controls the movement of the tools with his or her hands. The system translates these hand movements into smaller, precise micro-movements. A wide range of tools is available so the surgeon can perform specialized tasks with ultimate precision and control.
Is the surgery programmed into the da Vinci system?
The surgeon provides all the input for each movement, as the da Vinci system cannot be programmed or make decisions on its own.
What enhancements does the da Vinci Surgical System offer?
There are several reasons that minimally invasive robotic surgery works so well with the da Vinci system:
Single-port technology, which can reduce the number of incisions previously used to just one, further helping minimize discomfort and recovery time
Fluorescence imaging, which can increase the visibility of hard-to-reach areas and vasculatures, which can give a surgeon extreme precision and minimize tissue damage
Can da Vinci technology handle my procedure?
Most people are good candidates for a da Vinci procedure. It is important to thoroughly discuss your options with your physician to determine if this minimally invasive procedure is right for you. At miVIP, we offer a wide variety of surgical procedures utilizing the da Vinci system. We are invested in having a range of outpatient procedures that provide successful outcomes for our patients. Our da Vinci robotics surgeries include:
Gynecological surgeries, such as hysterectomy, myomectomy and endometriosis resection
Urologic surgery in the way of radical prostatectomy
Bariatric procedures, such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, lap band and gastric band
Thoracic surgeries, such as lobectomy, wedge resections, robotic thymectomy, robotic lymph node surgery and sweaty palm surgery
General surgeries, including cholecystectomy, Heller myotomy and pancreatectomy
